Trying to get out off my comfort zone

It has been really long time since i blogged.

I was very much in my sewing room and had a major sewing disaster with loss of time and fabric.

To come out of it i decided to finish off a quilted wall hanging.

I’m a minimalist when it comes to colours and embellishing.

I love to see real colorful stuff and beautifully embellished finishes.

But when i try to do something i’m not really comfortable to play with colours and embellishments.

This time i decided it’s time for me to get out off my comfort zone and play with some colours…

foundation pieced wall hanging

This pattern is from DebKarasik..I’m sure you will get totally inspired by the beautiful works there.

It’s a 22” square, foundation pieced, machine quilted wall hanging finish with a sleeve behind,

but i don’t have a perfect hanger to take a picture of it as a wall hanging…

I was scared to get out off stippling when it comes to quilting,

this time I tried to practice my free motion quilting skill on this piece of work.

machine quilted on a foundation pieced

I’m very happy with the fmq part…i know there are rooms for improvement…

foundation pieced with machine quilting

…more close up…you can find imperfection in this….but i loved it…

backing with quilting stitches

…this is the back side with more visible quilting…

I just loved the spikes on the border…

and would love to use this spikes pattern for my next foundation piecing project too.

mitered corners

I loved the mitered corners of the inner border…I’m glad that i’m getting better and better in finishing mitered corners..

I was always lazy to make a label for my quilts…this time i tried to take a print on the fabric and hand stitched on to the

back of the quilt..

quilt label

It was a last minute play on the label just before blogging..i can do better for the next time…

I took 2 weeks to finish this piece of work…piecing took more time…quilting and finishing was just 2 days work.

I really enjoyed working with this pattern…

Thank you so much for stopping by ….

Until next time…

Have a nice day…nima
